Key Worker Open Day 1st July 2022
We are hosting an Open Golf Competition, free for Key Workers, on Friday 1st July 2022, as a token of our appreciation for your efforts through the pandemic. If, for example, you are or have been volunteering or working at a foodbank or vaccination centre or work for the NHS etc. then entry is free of charge. The Open day will be in the form of a Texas Scramble. Although this will be in teams of four you are welcome to enter one, two, three or four Key Worker names on the application form and we will make you up into a team of four players. (with at least one good golfer per team where we can).
Texas Scramble is a team game in which every member of the group tees off on every hole.
The players then decide which ball is in the best position for the second shot.
Once this is confirmed, the other members of the team will pick up their balls and everyone will play from the chosen position. This process then repeats until the ball is in the hole.
Each team competing returns one score for each hole, and the team with the lowest total score at the end of the round is the winner.
An example of playing a hole
– Player A, Player B, Player C, Player D all tee off on a par-4 hole
– Team decide Player B’s ball is in the best position
– Player A, Player B, Player C, Player D all play their second shots from that position
– Team decides Player D’s ball is in the best position on the green
– Player A, Player B, Player C, Player D all putt from that position
– Player A goes first and misses, Player B goes second and holes the putt
– Player C and Player D pick up and the team mark a birdie 3 on their scorecard
Entry for the competition closes on 1st June 2022, all forms must be received before that date. The draw will be posted on our website after 8th June 2022.

If you are a beginner or completely new to golf, we will also have our Professional, Terry Bunyan, on hand from 12 noon on 1st July to give a group lesson in the basics of golf. To reserve your place in this lesson, fill out the same form as for the competition but be aware you cannot enter both the competition and the group lesson. Entries must be in before 1st June 2022.
Our usual Dress code will be relaxed on the day, Golf shoes are not required (flat soled trainers are fine) and the only rule is no jeans, otherwise smart casual wear is fine. We will not have enough golf clubs for everyone so do arrange to borrow some from a friend if you don’t have your own set.
For a map of our location and full address, go to the Contact us page of our website. We advise that you arrive at the club 45 minutes before your scheduled tee time.
